This special evening includes a dynamic performance from the Dance Theatre of Harlem and will feature Resident Choreographer Robert Garland’s latest hit, Higher Ground, set to music by Stevie Wonder and named one of the best performances of 2022 by The New York Times. 

This evening provides a unique opportunity for Virginia Arts Festival, Dance Theatre of Harlem, members of the Divine Nine, and HBCU alumni, faculty, and students to celebrate history, community, and culture. Please wear paraphernalia or colors representing your organization/institution. A rollcall will be conducted from the stage.  

Pre-performance Party: 
Special guests and group leaders (on orders10+) are invited to a pre-performance party at the Virginia Arts Festival's Perry Pavilion. Doors open at 6:00 pm. (Dance party includes refreshments and appetizers.)

A post-show conversation with Dance Theatre of Harlem artists will immediately follow the performance.
