Supernovas Steel Orchestra is a nationally and internationally recognized steel orchestra founded in 2010 in Surrey Village, Lopinot, Trinidad and Tobago. Inspiring artistic excellence while honoring the legacy of the late Dr. Jit Samaroo, Supernovas has established itself as one of the premier steel orchestras in the Caribbean steelband community.

Supernovas was formed by committed musicians from the Surrey Village community under the leadership of Amrit Samaroo, son of renowned steelpan composer Dr. Jit Samaroo. The ensemble draws on Jit’s legacy while contributing to both performance and community outreach.

Supernovas competed consistently in Trinidad and Tobago’s National Panorama Competition, showcasing continuous artistic development and competitive excellence. Supernovas earned a spot in the top 3 in the small band Category from 2012-2015 and was crowned Small Band Champions in 2014. The band then made a significant debut in the Large Band Category in 2016, earning 2nd Place in their first year. Since then, they have been consistent finalists and recently came in 4th place in 2025.
